Le Monêtier-Les-Bains
The charm of an authentic Haute-Alpes village that has preserved its architecture, traditions and peace and quiet, where it's good to live, breathe in the extraordinarily pure air of the Briançonnais, and recharge your batteries at the Grands Bains Thermaux (4,500 m² dedicated to relaxation: natural hot water baths with active ingredients (44°c), SPA, beauty salon) located 200 m from the Auberge du Choucas. Shuttle bus to the ski slopes, 450 m from the Auberge, 30 m away.
Serre-Chevalier-Vallée
The Serre-Chevalier Vallée ski area, one of the largest in Europe, comprises four village resorts on the edge of the Ecrins mountains. It offers 250 km of pistes, at altitudes of between 1,200 and 2,830 m. From forest to secret coombs, from couloirs to large fields of powder, there's something for every taste and level! On the borders of the Northern Alps and Savoie, right in the heart of the Grandes Alpes, the Serre-Chevalier area is a magical mountain, with thirteen authentic villages and hamlets dotted around the edge of the Ecrins National Park, at the gateway to the wild Oisans region. Here you can enjoy a wide range of winter and summer sports: downhill skiing, ski touring, cross-country skiing, medium and high mountain hiking, rock climbing, paragliding, cycling/ mountain biking, white water sports, horse riding, tennis, fishing...
Briançon
"It's the highest town in Europe (1,326 m). A "Town of Art and History" listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it proudly displays the fortifications and works of the genius Vauban, which give it its jewel-like appearance in a setting of mountains that rise up around it "like white emperors". Dominated by its citadel, it retains the appearance it had under Louis XIV, with its narrow streets and gargoyles. Its colourful facades and café terraces give it a contemporary, southern feel that is much sought-after by tourists from all over the world! A casino spices up its artistic vocation.
The surrounding area
A "star under the sun", the Briançonnais region extends over 1000 km², along four valleys arranged in a star shape from its centre, Briançon. Surrounding it is a fiefdom of majestic high-altitude mountains, protected by a battalion of immaculate peaks and glaciers: a dazzling display of celestial light and intense colour as Nature, splendid and pure, strong and violent, reveals all her poetic wildness. A marvel for the eyes, the mind and the heart.
The driest, sunniest climate in the European Alps. Welcoming valleys, marked by the imprint of man and his history - a host of churches, chapels and sundials. Mythical mountain passes, a world-famous cycling mecca and the most famous stage in the Tour de France. Superb fauna, such as the mouflon, prince of the precipices.
